Google Launches New Local Search Algorithm: Pigeon

On July 24 2014, Google pushed out a new algorithm for local search and is not designed for web spam. (which industry's leading SEO resource "Search Engine Land" called "Pigeon" update). There aren't many details disclosed about the so-called Pigeon yet, but webmasters report considerable changes in their local rankings over the past few days.

Google Releases 2 New Algorithm Updates: Panda 4.0 & Payday Loan 2.0


Google’s head of webspam, Matt Cutts recently announced two new Google algorithm updates via twitter that could affect your business.

Matt Cutts, an Engineer and head of web spam at Google, announced That Google released latest algorithm Panda 4.0 via twitter. 
 


Google's Matt Cutts, head of web spam at Google told at Search Engine Land that this Panda 4.0 update impacts ~7.5% of English queries to a degree that a regular user might notice. - a much more significant reach than has been seen in recent updates.

Update #1: Payday Loan 2.0



After the announcement of Panda 4.0 update Maat Cutts announced  in his second tweet that Google began the roll-out of the Payday Loan Algorithm 2.0 over the past weekend.


This specifically aims to target more spammy like industries where the link building and spam tactics are more extreme. Matt added more details while at SMX, which I covered at Search Engine Land.
