Importance of Google Authorship Verification in 2014

I know this is not  1st post about Google authorship implementation or how important is this you can find out easily on the internet about this. But now days I’m surprised to know than many small businesses and bloggers are unaware of Google Authorship, why it is important? And, how to implement?. They are writing great but they are missing out on the opportunity to gain more advantage over their competition
.
There are many changes in SEO field recently, So it is extremely important for Bloggers and small business owners to focus on on a solid content marketing strategy that builds authority in your area of expertise.
To drive traffic, earn links, and to rank higher on Google, you need to implement Google Authorship and make it easy for searchers to focus on your content in the search results pages.

Google Authorship is Google+’s Innovation. Google developed to improve search quality of your blog content or website by linking your Google+ profile to all the content you created. So once you linked your profile with your content that you have been written, you will see you photo and name beside the link of your article on the SERP.

Google Authorship protects your content by proclaiming over the internet that you wrote the content through the link created between your Google+ account and your content.

Google Authorship ties a Google+ account to content to better identify the original author.. The benefits are vast in terms of visibility, authority, influence, clicks, and conversions. Let’s start with the aforementioned byline.

There are two methods to become a verified author and see your photo and name in Google search result page.

1. Link your content to your Google profile

Before you start - You’ll need to creat a Google Plus. If you don’t have yet, go set one up – it needs to be a personal profile, not a business page. Make sure you’re using a recognizable headshot as your profile photo. You can’t use your dealership logo, it has to be your face.

STEP 1 - click the blue Edit profile button, then scroll down and click the Contributor to section of your profile. Click the Add custom link and fill in the Label and URL fields to specify the name and location of the home page of the blog you’re contributing to.

STEP 2 - On the author biography / About me page, add a link for the author’s Google+ profile using the anchor tag code.

<a href="https://plus.google.com/00002255655611?" rel="me">Google+ </a>

STEP 3 - In each content page, edit the existing link to the author biography page by adding the anchor tag attribute rel=”author”. The following is an example of such tag source code (be sure to use the URL to your author biography page in the href attribute as well as your name as the anchor text):
<a href="{AuthorBiographyPageURL}" rel="author">Author Name</a>

2. Email Verification Method

Email verification method is very helpful to authors on sites in which they can’t edit any anchor tag code, but its use is not limited to that scenario. As long as its criteria are met, email verification can be the primary method used for establishing authorship verification.

STEP 1 - Browse to the Google+ page Link your Google+ profile to the content you create (you must sign in to your Google account to complete this procedure).

Type or paste the email address used in your content’s byline link into the Step 4 text box, and then click Signup for Authorship.

Look for a verification email from Google sent to that email address. Once received, click the link within the email to verify you own the email address.

Check to make sure you’re verified. Put the link to the post into Google’s rich snippet testing tool and see how it should display in search engines.
